2009 Wine Show

Entries are invited for the eighth annual Daylesford Wine Show.

As has been the case in previous years, entry will be restricted to wine made from fruit grown (85%) in the Macedon Ranges and surrounding Wine Regions, ie Bendigo, Heathcote, Sunbury and Ballarat.

The wine must be bottled. Three bottles of wine will be required for each entry, with only labels supplied by Daylesford Wine Show Inc. to be used. (If your bottles already have commercial labels then please either scrape them off or mask them.) Trophy or top medal winners undertake to supply two cases free to Lake House if required for the awards dinner on Friday 14th November.

Classes:

Class A: Sparkling wine
Class B: White wine other than Chardonnay
Class C: Chardonnay (please specify whether wooded or unwooded)
Class D: Rosé
Class E: Pinot Noir Class
F: Merlot and blends Class
G: Shiraz and shiraz blends (>60% shiraz)
Class H: Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet blends (>60% cabernet sauvignon)
Class I: Italian varieties (red)
Class J: Other reds and blends
Class K: Sweet wines

Trophies:

Best sparkling wine: Scotts Liquor, Daylesford
Best chardonnay: The Deco Restaurant at Peppers Springs Retreat, Hepburn Springs
Best other white wine: The Grande, Hepburn Springs Best shiraz or shiraz blend: The Farmers Arms Hotel, Daylesford
Best cabernet or cabernet blend: Frangos & Frangos, Daylesford
Best Pinot Noir: Mercato, Daylesford
Best sweet wine/rosé/merlot/Italian variety
Best wine in show: Lake House
Julian West Memorial Trophy: awarded to a small winery (<50 tonnes) which makes its own wine, on the basis of scores for the top three wines.

Trophies will only be awarded to wines achieving gold medals.

$15 per entry. Cheques (payable to Daylesford Wine Show Inc.) must accompany entry form. Send to Daylesford Wine Show inc. , PO Box 952

Closing date: Friday 9th October.

Wines to be delivered by:

Friday 30th October to Big Shed Wines, 1289 Malmsbury Road, Glenlyon. (Please  note that in previous years Lake House have accepted show entries on the Sunday evening before the judging. This year they have a wedding in the Terrace Room on Sunday evening so cannot accept wines.) Entries which have not arrived at Big Shed by Saturday 31st October will be disqualified.

Please do not send any wine without official labels; and please remove capsules from bottles with corks.

Judging: Monday 2nd November

Awards Dinner: Friday 6th November at the Lake House Terrace Room.

Exhibitor/Public Tasting: Saturday 7th November at Daylesford Neighbourhood House, Camp Street Daylesford

Exhibitors agree to adhere to the ASVO Code of Practice for the Display of Awards. Any exhibitor breaking this or any regulation may be disqualified from this and future shows.

All entries become the property of the Daylesford Wine Show Inc.

Information on where to send entries will be sent out with the show labels. Please do not send any wine without official labels; and please remove capsules from bottles with corks.

Daylesford Wine Show is now an incorporated association. Entering the show makes you eligible to apply for membership of the association. (There is no membership fee.) An application form is attached; please consider becoming a member and then having a say as to how the show should be run in the future.
